Tinka Gemmingen

Psychodynamic Counsellor based in Havant, Hampshire

I am a fully qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor and have a Masters degree in Psychology.

I have worked as a Guidance Counsellor for Parents, have experience working with psychological trauma, and a wide variety of other mental health problems.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I welcome enquiries, so please contact me via the form below, the BACP website, or the Counselling Directory.

What I offer

I offer psychodynamic counselling on a one-to-one basis in person or on zoom. In person sessions will be held in a consulting room in Havant that will give the privacy needed to ensure utmost confidentiality.

I offer open-ended counselling which means that we will not have a fixed ending point for your counselling sessions. I also offer time-limited counselling which means that we would think about the number of sessions in advance and therefore will work towards a determined ending.

What happens after you made contact?

Not knowing what happens next can be frightening and if you have never experienced counselling or are new to the psychodynamic modality you might have questions about what to expect once you have reached out to me.

Once you have sent your enquiry to me, I will typically reply within 24 hours with an offer to have a brief phone conversation in which we can make arrangements for the introductory session.

The introductory session serves the purpose of getting to know each other and for you to get an idea of what psychodynamic counselling looks like. When, by the end of the introductory session, you agree to start counselling with me, we will then find a set day and time for our recurring weekly appointments.

Psychodynamic counselling is about exploring your inner world and how you experience the wider world around you. Who we are and how we respond to what is happening to us is the sum of our thoughts, beliefs, feelings and ideas that we have accumulated in the past. By telling me what is on your mind we can notice how you respond to what is happening to you and this newfound insight can be helpful to manage difficulties in the present and might help you to feel more in charge of shaping your future.
